Man, 32, Killed When Car Crashes Into Pole On Sunrise Highway

A 32-year-old man was killed when his car crashed into a utility pole overnight on the Sunrise Highway in Amityville.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Monday, May 27 when a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta traveling eastbound on the highway veered off the roadway at the intersection of Albany Avenue and struck the pole, Suffolk County Police said.

Thomas Valentino, of Dix Hills, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
